Sprite Animation

During the last days of my web-design class we created a small sprite animation with a play button. I learned how to use action scripts in an animation to make it do something specific. Overall, this was a fun project because I had the chance to create an animation with my favorite characters of a show. At first I had trouble creating the play button because it never played the next frame of my movie. I realized that you had to use a code snippet that made the play button go to the next frame when it was clicked. I wish we had more time on this project to make it do more things but I believe I did good for the amount of time given.

Interactive Drum Kit

During my web-design class, I learned how to make an interactive drum kit. At first, my teacher showed us how to make an animated button to learn the basics. After that activity, we learned how to put sounds on objects. I really enjoyed this project because it made me realize how people create the games that are interactive. One difficulty that I had along the way was putting the sounds on the object. I didn't know whether to put the sound on the timeline or on top of my drums. I eventually learned that I did have to put the sound on top of my drums. Overall, I would do this project again.

Math Fair Animation

In my web-design class we were given an assignment where we had to create an animation for the math fair. We had to use the skills that we learned in flash to create a clean and smooth animation. At first I thought that this project was going to be easy, but along the way I found a few things difficult to deal with. Some of these problems involved deciding how long one animation should be and how to create different background colors for each animation. I learned that to you had to create a layer for the background and create a rectangle to fit the stage and change the background color from there for each animation. It was also hard finding GIFs that were related to math. From all the projects that we have been assigned, I would say that this project is my favorite because I was able to show my creativity and put my own ideas into an animation. I am very content with the work my partner, Brenda, and I have made because we worked hard on each animation and used many of the skills that we were taught in class for Flash.

Flash Face Animation

This week during my web-design class we learned how to use blank keyframes and the onion skin tool to create an animated face. I had to create various faces so that it would look like the face expression is changing. I really enjoyed this assignment because I had to use my creativity to draw the faces. I wish I had a bit more time to make the faces detailed and more smooth. I found the onion skin very helpful because it helped me outline the face from the other blank keyframes. In my opinion, I found this activity to be very easy and entertaining. I believe I created a good animation because it follows the instructions.

Moving Stick Figure Animation

In my web-design class I had to create a stick figure animation using Flash. This assignment wasn't hard at all because you just had to create a stick figure using the paint brush tool. To make the animation move we had to create different key frames after another and change the stick figures position. It was a fun activity but I wish we had more time to create an in depth movie of the stick figure moving. At first my animation went too fast that you couldn't see all the movements so I had to add a frame to most of the key frames. This was the only problem I had. Overall, it was a great experience and a great way to start learning how to create an animation with Flash.

Moving Objects in Flash

In my web-design class we learned how to create a movie with two objects moving continuously in a program called Flash. I learned how key frames help our objects move into a different position. We used the tools that we learned in our flash tools assignment to improve our work. One problem that I had was that my movie did not look like a moving object. It stopped at the end and went back to the beginning. I found out that I had to move my object back to the beginning or somewhere near it to make it have a moving effect.

Flash Drawing Tools

In my web-design class we learned about the different tools in Flash that we could use to create a simple animation. I really enjoyed this project because I made the letters have different designs by being creative and also made a face from basic shapes. I don't think using Flash is hard but it does take practice. At first I didn't know what the tools did but now that I've been using most of them as much as I can to fix my animation, it has become easier in every aspect. I'm content with my results because I took my time and let my creativity take control.

Windows Movie Maker

During my web design class we used Windows Movie Maker to improve our Free Runner Animation. We had to add music and some sound effects to help it be grab the attention of viewers. I really enjoyed using this program because it was simple and I had to use my creativity to improve my video. One of the issues that I had was that I couldn't add sound effects that overlapped with the music but soon enough, I discovered on my own a way to accomplish this. I had to create a video with my music and convert it to an wmv file first. After this I had to create a new movie project and import the video I had converted into a wmv file and add my sound effects. Then I had to save it on my computer a second time. The video above is the final product and I'm really glad it came out very well.

Pivot Free Runner

In my computer class we learned about what parkour is and how to use a program called Pivot Animator to create a pivot animation. Parkour is the activity of moving rapidly through an area, trying to get through various obstacles. An obstacle I had during this project was trying to make the animation look realistic. I had to erase some of my work various times to make it better and I believe that I did accomplish the requirements. After I finished my animation, I realized that it takes patience and a lot of time to create animations that have a lot of movement.

History of Animation

This week in my web design class we learned about the history of animation. My teacher showed the class a few of the first animations that people created such as Phenakistoscope. I learned that animation as been around for more than 4,000 years. In early animation there was no sound and was only in black and white. One thing that I learned about animation is that the first animation created by Disney was Steamboat Willie.
